Spanish Curriculum
Our Spanish curriculum provides children with an exciting and engaging introduction to learning a new language. Lessons are structured in small, progressive steps that help pupils build confidence as they develop their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. Through a clear sequence of learning, children revisit key vocabulary and grammatical structures regularly, allowing them to retain knowledge and apply it with increasing accuracy.
A strong focus is placed on practical communication. Pupils take part in interactive activities such as role‑play, songs, games and conversational practice, helping them use Spanish in meaningful, real-life contexts. This approach supports accurate pronunciation and encourages a positive, enthusiastic attitude towards language learning.
Cultural understanding is woven throughout the curriculum. Children explore traditions, celebrations and daily life in Spanish‑speaking countries, helping them appreciate the diversity of the wider world. This not only enriches their language skills but also supports their personal and social development by fostering curiosity, respect and global awareness.
By the end of their primary education, pupils leave with a solid foundation in Spanish, ready to build on their knowledge at secondary school. They develop a love of languages, the confidence to communicate with others, and an understanding of how learning another language opens doors to new experiences and opportunities.
