 Geography Curriculum

At our school, geography is a vibrant and engaging subject that helps children make sense of the world around them. Through carefully sequenced lessons, pupils build a strong foundation of knowledge about places, people, natural environments, and physical and human processes. Each year builds on what has come before, allowing children to revisit key ideas while developing deeper understanding and curiosity about the world.

From the early years onwards, children begin by exploring familiar places such as their home, school, and local community. As they move through the school, their geographical journey expands to include the wider United Kingdom, Europe, and countries across the globe. Pupils learn to use maps, atlases, digital tools, and fieldwork skills to investigate patterns, compare environments, and consider how people interact with the world.

A key part of our approach is developing confident geographers who can ask thoughtful questions, collect and interpret information, and explain their findings clearly. Through hands‑on activities, outdoor learning, and rich cross‑curricular links, children gain the knowledge and vocabulary they need to talk about landscapes, weather, climate, and human impact.

By the end of primary school, our pupils have a secure understanding of global diversity and environmental responsibility. They leave us with a sense of wonder, respect for different places and cultures, and the skills needed to continue exploring and protecting our changing world.
