Computing Curriculum
Computing at our school equips children with the essential skills and knowledge they need to thrive in a rapidly changing digital world. Our curriculum is carefully structured so that pupils build confidence and competence across three key areas: computer science, information technology, and digital literacy. Through engaging, practical lessons, children learn how computers work, how to create and debug simple programs, and how to use technology purposefully and safely.
As pupils move through the school, they revisit and extend core skills through a progressive sequence of units. Children explore a wide range of digital tools—from coding platforms and interactive media to data handling and animation software. Each lesson encourages curiosity and creativity, allowing pupils to experiment, make mistakes, and solve problems independently or collaboratively. This approach helps them develop logical thinking, resilience, and an understanding of how technology can be used to design, create, and innovate.
A central focus of our computing curriculum is online safety. Children are taught how to stay safe, make responsible choices, and communicate respectfully when using digital devices. These important messages are woven throughout the year so pupils can apply their knowledge confidently in school and at home.
We aim to ensure every child becomes a thoughtful, capable, and responsible digital citizen. By experiencing a wide range of computing activities and real‑world applications, pupils develop the skills they need not only for future learning but for life in an increasingly digital world.
